The Family Library Foundation was established three years ago to promote non-formal education through reading to children, youngsters and members of the public in remote areas. In cooperation with the Thai Red Cross Society, it provides two mobile bus libraries containing large stocks of many thousands of quality, up-to-date books, modern audio-visual equipment and a wireless Internet system, for the use and benefit of people and youngsters living in isolated provinces. The Foundation also participated in many other activities throughout 2007, such as the 36th Anniversary of Nation Group in Chiang Mai, the Launch of Center for Technology Learning at Nakornsawan, Children’s Book Day at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center etc.
On 22 May 2006, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously named the family mobile library - “Bannathorn” – which means a mobile vehicle transporting many books to share with others.
