Nation Group Executives Attend King Charles III’s Birthday Celebration and Mark 170 Years of UK–Thailand Diplomatic Relations
6 Jun 2025

On June 5, 2025, Shine Bunnag, Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO of Nation Group, along with Aura-orn Akrasanee, Managing Director of The Nation, and the team, attended the official celebration of King Charles III’s birthday at the British Embassy in Bangkok. During the event, they met with British Ambassador to Thailand, Mark Gooding, and congratulated them on the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Thailand.

This year’s celebration, “170 Years of Shared History and Future,” highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations in areas including trade, investment, security, and people-to-people relations. Ambassador Gooding emphasized the importance of continuing collaboration to embrace new opportunities and face global challenges together.

To mark this significant milestone, the British Embassy has planned year-long commemorative activities. These include support for the restoration of Wat Buddhapadipa in London — the first Thai Buddhist temple in the UK — symbolizing shared respect for tradition and religious diversity. Other religious events include a joint Kathina ceremony and Pha Pa fundraising with Wat Mahathat in Bangkok, with the Kathina scheduled for November.

Additional celebratory events include a performance by the Royal Marines Band Service from the UK at Vajiravudh College on June 14, a chamber concert by musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra, and a “British Fair” roadshow across five regions in Thailand later this year.
